Hello Dolly

Hello, Dolly! a musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and book by Michael Stewart, is based on Thornton Wilder’s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers The show has become one of the most enduring musical theatre hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film that was nominated for seven Academy Awards.

It is the story of a widow, Dolly Levi, played by Jennifer Scholten, who strives to bring romance to several couples and herself by making a living through what she calls “meddling”. She seeks a wife for grumpy Horace Vandergelder, played by Kenneth Guy Niehus, the well-known half-a-millionaire, but it becomes clear that Dolly intends to marry Horace herself. Add Vandergeld’s two clerks, Corneilus (Tim Pick) and Barnaby (Eli Young) and their desire to spend an evening out in New York, have a good meal, spend all their money, see the stuffed whale in Barnum’s museum, almost get arrested, and each kiss a girl! All done without the knowledge of their boss, Horace Vandergelder and setting their sights on Mrs Irene Malloy (Mary Puetz) and Minnie Fay (Allison Hanson) the antics of all make a musical comedy dream.

Danna Schuster and Audrey Scholten are the directing team for this production with musical direction by Linda Kleven and Ryan Becker. Remaining cast members are Travis Barrett, Ryan Becker, Margaret Britton, Jeff Faber, Wayne Marty, Donna Muilenburg, McKenna Murphy, Josh Rolling and Tiara Wenz.

President Postmarks

Dear Patrons,
Many thanks to the cast and crew for a great production in The Hallelujah Girls. Bonnie Dull and Margaret Britton directed another well received show by our patrons. Once again we had new faces on our Postal Playhouse stage and to sound like a broken record, “that is a good thing.”

See you at the Postal Playhouse!
